The Best Beginner Biking Trails in Sarnia-Lambton

So many biking options in Sarnia-Lambton for every age.

Hi, I’m local realtor Brad Drury, and one of the things I love most about living and working in Sarnia-Lambton is how easy it is to connect with nature. 


Whether I’m biking to meet a client or just sneaking in some fresh air after a showing, there’s no shortage of scenic, beginner-friendly trails. 


If you’re new to biking or just looking for a relaxing ride, here are some of my favourite routes to get your wheels spinning.


Howard Watson Nature Trail – Sarnia to Camlachie

  • Route Overview: A 16 km multi-use trail that follows a former railway line, stretching from Sarnia to Camlachie. The trail offers a flat, gravel surface, making it ideal for beginners.​Trailforks

Wawanosh Wetlands Loop – Sarnia

  • Route Overview: A 3.8-mile loop trail near Sarnia, Ontario, winding along a provincially significant marsh. The trail includes opportunities to observe local wildlife and offers an excellent vista of the Wawanosh Wetland.

Bluewater Bridge Waterfront Trail – Sarnia to Point Edward

  • Route Overview: A scenic ride along the St. Clair River, starting at Centennial Park in Sarnia and extending to Point Edward. The trail is paved and relatively flat, offering stunning views of the Bluewater Bridge.​ This is a favourite of mine since I live in Point Edward.

Canatara Park Loop – Sarnia

  • Route Overview: Multiple gentle trails loop through Canatara Park, passing through forests and around Lake Chipican. It's a beautiful, low-pressure place to ride and relax.​

Blackwell Trails – Sarnia

  • Route Overview: Quiet, gravel paths winding through trees and fields. It's a nice hidden gem for beginner bikers who prefer nature over crowds.​

Ipperwash Beach Trail – Lambton Shores

  • Route Overview: A relaxing ride near the beach with quiet roads and stunning lake views. Ideal for a warm-weather beginner’s day out.​

Lambton Heritage Forest Trails – Port Franks

  • Route Overview: Wide, wooded trails with very gentle terrain. These peaceful loops are perfect for nature lovers who are new to biking.​

Petrolia Discovery Trails

  • Route Overview: A 2-km trail through the north side of Bridgeview Park. Attractions include Carolinian Zone Forest and historical oil artifacts.
