As a real estate agent based here in Sarnia, Ontario, I have the pleasure of showcasing not only the beautiful homes in our community but also the stunning natural attractions that make this area so desirable.
Among these, Sarnia’s beaches stand out as some of the finest in Ontario. Here are the top five beaches that highlight the charm and appeal of Sarnia's waterfront:
Canatara Beach
Canatara Beach is a jewel in Sarnia's crown, stretching nearly a kilometre along the shores of Lake Huron. Located within the City of Sarnia’s Canatara Park, this beach offers more than just pristine sand and clear waters.
It’s one of only 27 beaches in Canada to have earned the prestigious Blue Flag status, reflecting its high standards for water quality, environmental management, and safety.
The park itself boasts numerous attractions, including picnic pavilions, a concert stage, a BMX and bike track, and extensive trails.
Families will appreciate the Seaway Kiwanis Children’s Animal Farm and the accessible beach features, such as the rubber mat walkway and ship sightings.

Brights Grove Beach
Brights Grove Beach is an ideal choice for those seeking a more tranquil beach experience. Located just 20 minutes from Sarnia’s city centre, this serene spot offers a long, sandy shoreline with several access points, providing a sense of privacy and seclusion.
Adjacent to Mike Weir Park, the area is perfect for family outings, with opportunities for paddleboarding, kayaking, and canoeing.
Cycling enthusiasts will also enjoy the water’s edge routes that run alongside the beach.
The Cove
Nestled on the western edge of Canatara Beach, The Cove offers a picturesque setting with breathtaking views of the Bluewater Bridge.
This secluded spot features approximately 250 metres of soft sand and calm, protected waters, making it ideal for swimming and sunbathing. There is soft sand here, and the waters are shallower for youth at play and boat anchorage.

Murphy Road Beach
Situated in the northern Sarnia Oakwood Corners neighbourhood, Murphy Road Beach is an urban beach known for its shallow waters and family-friendly spaces.
While the shoreline often has small pebbles, the lakebed offers soft sands, making it comfortable for wading and swimming.
Visitors of all ages will enjoy the scenic views of Lake Huron.
Baxter Beach
Adjacent to Baxter Park, Baxter Beach, also in the north end of Sarnia on the shores of Lake Huron, provides a delightful blend of recreational activities and natural beauty.
The park features amenities such as a basketball hoop, picnic areas and ample grass space to play sports. After engaging in these activities, visitors can unwind on the beach and take a refreshing dip in the clear waters of Lake Huron.
Often not as busy as Canatara, Baxter Beach is increasingly becoming a go-to for beachgoers, although not often as sandy as other beaches.
